Mark Cafarella

 

Mr. Cafarella is an ecotoxicologist with over two decades of contract research organization (CRO) experience. He joined the consulting industry after 21 years at a global contract research organization, where he served in various leadership roles including Director of Ecotoxicology for both North American and European offices. He has broad experience in ecotoxicology and has served as study director on over 200 aquatic and sediment toxicology studies. He is well versed in regulatory guidelines (USEPA, OECD and JMAFF) as well as project management and technical study conduct. As a Research Director he was instrumental in developing novel testing programs designed to answer specific regulatory needs and has been very involved in the validation and conduct of studies under the USEPA Endocrine Disruptor Screening Program (EDSP). His primary areas of focus include study monitoring, study defense, data gap analysis, and waiver argumentation. He has actively participated in a number of industry and multi-stakeholder working groups and societies (e.g., OECD expert teams, SETAC).

Mark is a Massachusetts native and lives in a small coastal town in the southeastern part of the state. He and his wife Carla have two adult children and they enjoy music, hiking and the Boston sports scene. Someday Mark would love to start a rock band.
